Experience in Education

SectorPoint, Inc. is a premier provider of technology services and solutions to K-16 agencies. Our primary goal is to partner with organizations in delivering innovation, digital transformations and change enablement to meet ongoing student needs.

Our Story

In 1997, as a student volunteer in the “Computer Services” Department at Solano Community College in Fairfield, Calif., Jon Cornelison launched a small website development shop he called School Web Services, Inc. that quickly grew in stature and recognition throughout California. Jon has also worked in various IT management and leadership roles “in the system,” thus he is keenly aware of the challenges educational IT organizations face. Utilizing his extensive background in education, and with the help of a strong, dedicated team, he is successfully providing assistance and support in solving real problems with true technology innovation.

Renamed SectorPoint, Inc. in 2008, we are today a statewide leader of technology enablement providing services and solutions to all levels of public education agencies ranging from pre-school and subsidized childcare solutions, K-12 organizations and community colleges to county office of education, CSU and UC project work.

SectorPoint, Inc. is the result of a convergence of passions for both technology and education fueled by an insatiable drive to deliver world-class customer service. As a full-service firm, we are dedicated to helping our educational clients bring their ideas to life (and projects to close).

School Web Services, Inc. (now SectorPoint, Inc.) developed the first public website for Solano Community College that was built with a combination of tools, including NetObjects Fusion and Microsoft® Visual InterDev.

1998 - 2000

Formative years were engaged in developing public websites for the West Hills Community College District, College of San Mateo, Monterey Peninsula College, Evergreen Valley College, Lake Tahoe Community College, Diablo Valley College and Rancho Santiago Community College District. Projects were then expanded to K-12 building full public sites for the Sacramento City Unified and Solano County Office of Education. All projects were built with Microsoft® Front Page and Visual InterDev, including the first centralized childcare eligibility list for subsidized children in the state of California.

2001 - 2007

With the trend toward content management systems (CMS), Campus Platform, a Microsoft® Active Server, i.e., “classic ASP” and SQL Server−based CMS was released that allowed college and K-12 agencies to distribute website maintenance. Our client base expanded to include full website design builds for Napa Valley College, Santa Ana College, Santiago Canyon College, Peralta Community College District, Citrus College, Santa Monica College, California State University Maritime Academy, St. Helena Unified, Napa Valley Unified, Vacaville Unified, Dixon Unified and Middletown Unified.

Newly renamed SectorPoint, Inc., when faced with the decision to rebuild the Campus platform CMS using .NET, chose to become an official Microsoft partner and build new sites using Microsoft® Office SharePoint Server (MOSS).

2009 – 2015

Our client base expanded to include full site builds for the Los Angeles Community College District, College of the Desert, Lassen Community College, Orange County Department of Education, San Diego County Office of Education and UC San Diego School of Medicine and Life Sciences Division.

2016 – Present

While some clients hire their own staff and bring website operations in-house or else elect to use open-source CMS systems rather than SharePoint, SectorPoint continues to service our existing client base with website services and solutions based on their expanding needs for projects beyond the main website, such as grants, application modernization, etc. Our project experience grows year after year due to positive word-of-mouth recommendations.
